Top Newmarket racehorse trainer Jeremy Noseda is backing his local children's hospice this season.
As racing fans eagerly await the launch of Newmarket's 2012 Flat season, which starts with The Craven Meeting on April 18- 19, Noseda and his team at Shalfleet Stables in Bury Road have launched a fundraising partnership with East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH).
Jeremy recently visited the EACH Milton hospice to find out more about the work the charity does with local life-threatened children and their families. The trainer had been told about EACH by a friend and after the visit decided to make a commitment to support the charity.
In working with EACH, Jeremy hopes to raise funds for the charity and raise public awareness of childrens' hospice services. One of the key fundraising initiatives will see Jeremy making a donation to EACH every time he has a winner this season.
He will also be part of a Shalfleet team carrying out a bucket collection for EACH at Ladies' Day at Newmarket racecourse on Thursday, July 12's.
Jeremy said: "I've supported charities in the past, but they've been further afield, and I wanted to do something within the local community.
"A good friend of mine, Robert Levitt has supported EACH in the past and told me about the charity late last year. I wanted to find out for myself what it was like, so visited the hospice earlier in the spring.
"I was really impressed by the dedication of the staff and saw first hand the care and support they provide. It was a moving experience and has inspired me to see if there are ways in which those of us at Shalfleet can help."
Karen Newton, EACH Fundraiser, said: "We're delighted that Jeremy got in touch to find out more about EACH - and even more delighted that he has made a commitment to support the work we do.
"We wish Jeremy every success for the season, knowing that every winner he has will boost our profile and help fund vital care and support for life-threatened children and their families locally."
Other offers of support from Jeremy include donating prizes for fundraising auctions and hosting stable tours for children and families receiving care and support from EACH. He also plans to promote EACH on his website http://jeremynoseda.com, Facebook www.facebook.com/JeremyNoseda and Twitter @JeremyNoseda
